Notes Regarding NWare124RC1 installer and msxml.msi This is a pre-release version of NWare 1.2.4 called Release Candidate 1. The code installed with this installer should be identical to what you get with the final installer, but this installer treats this as a stand-alone installation which doesn't interfere with any existing NWare installations. This is because the final installer will try to upgrade the existing installation in-place. This release can be uninstalled without breaking the upgradeability of the older NWare installations. Don't panic. This release does not install an XML parser because of the extra size that would add when most of you already have it installed. Before running NWare from this installer, you must still have a prior final NWare release installed (with its own XML parser) or you must install the stand-alone XML parser. NWare requires Microsoft's MSXML4.0 SP2 which can be downloaded from this page as msxml.msi. To install the XML parser: 1. Download and install msxml.msi parser. You may have to upgrade your Windows Installer version for the MSI file to install. If you need to do this, you'll get an error message when you try to run msxml.msi. No error=You're good. 2. Take the defaults as they are presented by clicking on OK or Yes. Although we include an XML parser with our final installers, it's generally a good idea to have a stand-alone parser anyway. We have seen third-party software "grab onto" the parser included with NWare and corrupt it. This rarely happens but the stand-alone parser should eliminate or greatly reduce the possibility of that ever happening. There is no need to uninstall the parser when upgrading NWare using an installer. _________________________________________ If you are upgrading a file generated by NWare 1.1.3: 1. Open the file in NWare 1.2.4 2. Click on Tools > Update All Out of Date Devices... > Yes 3. Drag new NioNode devices from the Devices Tab of NWare 1.2.4 and give them the exact same names and configurations of the existing ones. 4. Delete the old NioNode devices. 5. All controls (Mutes, GPIO, Meters, etc.) in the Project File that were copied from the old NioNodes will be orphaned so replace them with fresh copies from the new NioNodes. 6. Force a recompile of the file by pressing Shift+Control+F9 simultaneously. 7. Save the file! 8. Upgrade the firmware on your NIONs. a. Click on Tools > Update Target Firmware. b. Make sure release_1.2.4 appears in the Available Firmware box at the bottom of the Update Firmware window. c. Click on the NIONs found in the update window and click on Select For Update for each NION you wish to upgrade. d. Click on the button marked Update Selected. e. Click on OK in the pop-up dialog. The process will be automatic after that. 9. Once the NIONs have rebooted after the firmware update, deploy the Project File normally.
