MediaMatrix® Seminar FAQ
Q: How much does it cost to come to a MM seminar? A: Currently, we do not charge a fee for MM seminars, however, there is a refundable registration fee required to sign up. The only costs you will incur in attending any of the MM seminars is the cost of travel to and from Meridian, Mississippi; lodging during your stay and a few meals. We provide lunch during each seminar day and there are always at least one hosted dinners. Breakfast is complimentary at the hotel.
Q: Do I need to bring a notebook computer to the class? A: The MM lab is equipped with computers for each attendee, therefore no additional computer is required. However, it is recommeded that you have notebook computer for working after hours or to use with project information you may have stored on your computer.
Q: Should I rent a car to get around Meridian? A: We provide ground transportation between the hotel and the seminar site each day, so a car is not required. However, if you are staying in Meridian additional days, either before the seminar starts, or after the last day, you may need a car to get to the airport. (We often provide transportation to the airport on the last day of the class.)
Q: What is there to do in Meridian? A: Meridian is a small town with a limited night life, although there is usually live music performed at several local taverns. The hotel is located near the Bonita Lakes mall and other shopping areas. There are several restaurants, shopping areas and a movie theatre near, and inside the mall. There is also a park, walking trails and picnic areas nearby. For more information on Meridian, visit www.meridianms.org.
Q: Does the class participate in any evening activities? A: There are usually one or two hosted dinners at Peavey facilities where there is an opportunity to meet other attendees.
Q: How will I know if I am confirmed for the class or not? A: Confirmations are not sent out until the registration closes. This is usually 3 weeks prior to the class date.
Q: I am not a MediaMatrix dealer, can I still come to the class? A: The MM Seminar is a very popular event, and seating is limited. Therefore, the class is reserved for authorized contractors, design consultants and system owners/end users.
Q: How can I become an authorized MediaMatrix contractor? A: Contact your local MM sales rep, or call the factory and speak to the MM Sales Manager.
Q: I am pretty skilled at system design and working with computers. Shouldn't I take the Advanced class? A: All attendees, regardless of skill level should attend the "Fundamentals of MediaMatrix" seminar first. This class covers the bulk of MediaMatrix technology.
Q: What happens if you cancel a seminar? A: Although it is rare, there are occasions where a class is cancelled. Usually this occurs 3 weeks prior the class date. For this reason, we do not recommend that you make firm travel plans until you receive a written confirmation from us. If the class is cancelled, you will be given the option of transferring your registration to the next applicable class. All registration fees will be refunded in full.
Q: I just signed up for class, should I make flight arrangements to come to Meridian? A: No. We strongly recommend that you do not make travel arrangements until you receive a written confirmation from us. This is usually in the form of an email sent directly to the attendee/contact.
Q: Can I use any hotel in Meridian for the class? A: We strongly recommend that you let us book your hotel for you. We have a host hotel and a block of reserved rooms at special rates for you. In addition, ground transportation is provided only to and from the host hotel.
Q: Do you provide transportation to and from the Meridian airport? A: No. You will need to take a cab or rent a car. Meridian is a small town, so cab fare is extremely reasonable. (On the last day of the seminar, if your flight is in the afternoon, we will often be able to provide ground transportation to the airport, although this is not guaranteed.)
